MUSIC REVIEW

By VIVIEN SCHWEITZER (Published: February 22, 2011)

"... The most unusual work I encountered was "Mulitple Oneness",

an intriguing performance-art piece by the oboist Matt Sullivan and the painter Ken Cro-Ken.

While Mr. Sullivan played a melancholy lament over recorded sounds, Mr. Cro-Ken poured liquids onto a canvas

projected onto a video screen.   The colorful liquids flowed through the painting’s raised surfaces

like yellow lava, swirling in strange tandem with the oboe’s melancholy tunes."

"MULTIPLE ONENESS, TIME RELEASED PERFORMANCES" BEGAN IN 1999:

Videos helped to narrow the gap between what I was creating and what people were viewing.  Eventually, I closed this gap further by painting in front of an audience in 1999 with FirstAVEnue, an electro-acoustic trio.  Space/Time music met it's counterpart in art.  Speed Element paints are set in motion and projected live.  A pre-recorded video of active past paint experiments along with natural activity, (such as, Jupiter's Red Oval) is also projected; transporting us earthbound observers to an off planet experience.  Founding member of FirstAVEnue and oboist Matt Sullivan and I carry these time released performances forward with our series- "MULTIPLE ONENESS".
