THE CONDUCT OF PAINT
KEN CRO-KEN

Art books could not often answer the questions of this physical investigation of our planet using paint.

Celebrating the 150+ years of Ralph Waldo Emerson's brilliant book :

THE CONDUCT OF LIFE".

Nature has her own best mode for doing each thing and has told us plainly along the way;
and if we decide our own ways as opposed to Nature's;
Nature will not be slow in undeceiving us"

-RALPH WALDO EMERSON -

Speed Elements becomes my portal and leads me to the furthest stretches of the universe.
Rather than see the world and paint, I paint and seek out a similar event in nature.

Rather than say- "Look what I made.  I prefer to say- "Look what I made with nature."
Paint and nature allow me to observe how the universe appears but more importantly, how it moves.

There is a comfort in knowing that I never had to abandon being a painter to create earthwork art.
Nature in itself is inspiring and I ride her coat tails with amazement.
Nature is my muse, as is all of the universe and motivates my perception
and reactions to the conduct of paint.

John Cage, composer, would often say, and I paraphrase,
"Show me something I don't understand and I'm fascinated."

A wise man follows Nature's lead.
- EMERSON -
